1
Get a sampling kit
Order Air-O-Cell spore traps, Bio-Tape lifts and cavity sampling tubes from our Hamilton stock, or use your own. Homeowners can request a simple tape-lift kit; consultants and assessors order in volume.

Your report includes genus-level identification, quantitative spore counts and a plain-English summary — analysed to ASTM D7658-17 and D7391-20, and reported against ANSI/IICRC S520 criteria.
Building Material Analysis
Comprehensive analysis of surface samples and bulk building materials for mould identification and quantification. Our McCrone-trained analysts examine samples using brightfield and phase contrast microscopy to ASTM D7658-17 and ASTM D7391-20 methodology, providing detailed identification of mould genera and species present, along with semi-quantitative assessment of contamination levels in line with ANSI/IICRC S520-2024: Professional Mould Remediation.
Sample Types
- Clear tape lifts and bio-tapes from visible growth
- Surface swabs and dust samples
- Black mould identification — distinguishing Stachybotrys from other dark-coloured moulds
- Gypsum board and plasterboard
- Timber and framing materials
- Carpet, underlay, and insulation
- Wall linings and claddings
Air Quality Testing
Laboratory analysis of airborne spore samples to assess indoor air quality and identify mould contamination sources. Spore trap cassettes capture airborne fungal structures which are then examined microscopically, with results compared against industry guideline criteria including ACGIH (American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists) guidance by our qualified Occupational Hygienists.
What We Provide
- Spore trap cassette analysis and quantification
- Indoor vs outdoor comparison to identify contamination sources
- Genus identification of mould taxa for use in potential health significance assessments
- Reporting using ACGIH criteria, and results compared with international industry guideline criteria
Interpretation
Results are compared against recognised industry guideline criteria including ACGIH bioaerosol assessment principles. Elevated indoor counts or different species composition compared to outdoor samples may indicate an indoor mould source requiring investigation.
Mould Assessments
Professional on-site mould assessment by qualified mycologists and occupational hygienists. Our assessment service provides a systematic evaluation of your property including air sampling, surface sampling, moisture measurement, and environmental readings — with laboratory analysis and a detailed report classifying conditions to ANSI/IICRC S520 standards.
Assessment Includes
- Visual inspection and site documentation
- Airborne spore sampling using calibrated high-flow pumps and spore trap cassettes
- Surface sampling via tape lift method for laboratory identification
- Moisture content readings using professional-grade moisture meters
- Temperature and relative humidity measurement
- Laboratory analysis with detailed report and IICRC condition ratings
Specialist Investigations
For complex cases requiring on-site expertise beyond a standard mould assessment, our qualified Mycologists and Occupational Hygienists can provide specialist investigation services. This includes sensitive site sampling, expert guidance for insurance claims, and forensic determination of mould source and extent.
These services are available by referral and consultation. Please get in touch to discuss your specific requirements.
